Jesus said, “As the Father as sent me, even so I am sending you.” The day of His resurrection, Jesus walks into a room where His disciples were and told them it was their turn to take the baton and further the mission He began. We’ve been saying it at Austin Life like this - “If you’re saved, you’re sent”.
The call to make disciples was given from Jesus to all who follow Him. We have been entrusted by God with the responsibility of being His ambassadors, His representatives to those around us. That’s not an extracurricular we opt in or out of. It is a part of who we are as Christians, part of our very identity.
But let’s be real - we are terrible at sharing our faith and making disciples. The vast majority of Christians have never led someone else to Jesus, baptized a friend, walked with a family member to grow in love and obedience. The very essence of Jesus’ strategy to reach the nations with the gospel, and for most of us, it is really, really hard.
So, let’s all admit that we aren’t very good at it. But let’s not stay there. Let’s commit with one another to be active in inviting people into our lives and sharing the gospel with them.
To help equip us for this, we are putting together a Disciple-Making Training.
