Jesus said, “As the Father as sent me, even so I am sending you.” The day of His resurrection, Jesus walks into a room where His disciples were and told them it was their turn to take the baton and further the mission He began. We’ve been saying it at Austin Life like this - “If you’re saved, you’re sent”.
We have a great opportunity to serve in August as a church! Mobile Loaves and Fishes Community First! Village is an organization that houses formerly homeless people. The 27-acre community is an incredible place featuring all sorts of tiny homes and RVs where people can live in community and get back on their feet. The site has a store where residents earn money by selling art and jewelry, a community garden where residents grow food, a car repair shop that residents work at, and an outdoor movie theater. It's really amazing to see!
Membership in a local church is not anything new. Every letter written to a church in the Bible was written to the members of a local church. Being a member of a local church is committing to a specific group of people towards a specific, and common mission with those people. There are three primary reasons we believe membership matters.
These will be times we will come together as a family for things like praying together, worshipping together, receive updates on the state of Austin Life, look back, look ahead, review our budget, vote on items, suggest elders, and discuss specific needs for the church.
