serve The City

At Austin Life, we believe every follower of Jesus is called to follow the way of Jesus and to live a life of service, where we tangibly demonstrate Christ to others by serving and caring for their needs. We believe as we do that, it gives us a great opportunity to lead people to life in Jesus as well as for us to abide in Christ through obedience.

Here are different ways you can serve the city of Austin.

Fostering Hope

Fostering Hope is committed to building stronger foster and adoptive families through training, mentoring, and church ministry development. Fostering Hope empowers families and church leaders who want to offer a holistic solution to the foster and orphan crisis while working with other community partners to achieve this goal.

Why Work With Foster/Adoptive Families?

There has been a constant growth in the need for foster families in Texas, but the number of foster homes has not increased at the same pace. We aim to support current families as well as encourage new families to foster within our church because of the great need, but also because of the long-term impact on the community. Almost 80% of Inmates in U.S. Prisons have spent time in foster care. Also, 83% of Sex Trafficked Victims and 40-50% of the homeless population have been in CPS. We believe serving children/families in CPS care will impact their lives for years to come. This intentional care will aid in lowering future populations in prisons, sex trafficking, homelessness, and more!

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed. Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice.” - Proverbs 31:8-9

How to Get Involved With Fostering Hope

There are three ways to get involved with Fostering Hope.

The first is to join our ministry advocacy team. This team informs our church of information on the ministry as well as provides direct aid for those who serve in it.

The second is to become a Buddy. A Buddy is a licensed babysitter that is paired with a foster family. They create a set time each week with the family to mentor the kid(s) while also giving the parent(s) a break to relax each week. This ministry is vital for both the development of the kid(s) as well as the longevity for future placements within the family.

The third is to become a foster family. Steven and Sarah McCaslin are leading this team and as foster parents themselves they are passionate and knowledgeable about helping other families make this transition because of the life transformation that happens in everyone involved.

If you are interested in serving in any of these ways, contact Steven and Sarah.

Pursue Your Passions

While we have partnerships with different organizations within the city, that doesn’t mean serving the Lord has to fit within one of those partnerships. If God has given you something to pursue, we encourage you to go for it! Invite people within your Community Group or Discipleship Group to join you and if you ever have any questions about something like this, email us!
