Church Planting & Sending
“If you’re saved, you’re sent.”
We don’t remember who said this first, but we know they said it’s ok for us to use it. But really, if we’re going to split hairs, this is just a rewording of what Jesus Himself said in the Great Commission.
“And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8
In John 20:21, Jesus said it this way… “As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.”
Jesus’ point is very, very clear. If you follow Jesus, then you are sent, as He was sent by the Father, to go into the world and bring a message of hope, of life - forgiveness of sins and the gift of abundant life to all who believe in Jesus.
We are committed to being a part of taking the hope of Jesus to all people in all places. Which is why we are committed to church planting and sending people well out of Austin Life into new contexts to share Jesus there as well.
We see the day when Austin Life is sending new church plants every year. And that is not just one or two people, but a team of people who willingly leave Austin Life to go and start a new church among new people in a new place.
We also know that Austin is a very transient city. Let’s leverage that reality to send people well as missionaries into their new cities.
What does this mean for you?
We believe we are to always hold our plans with open hands to God. As they have said at the Summit Church, we put our “Yes” on the table. “Yes, God, we will go wherever you tell us to go, whenever you tell us to go. We are ready when you are.”
